Job Description & Summary

Our Business Restructuring Services (BRS) team advises under-performing Dutch and European companies on restructurings and turnarounds, both financially and operationally – finding the best way forward for the business and its stakeholders. From family-run organisations to major listed multinationals, we help underperforming businesses, and stakeholders with interests in them, understand and solve their problems. That might mean coming up with strategies to turn the company around, restructure its operations, debt/capital structure or guiding it through an insolvency process.

As a Manager Operational Restructuring, you support the increasing demand from our clients across a broad range of sectors to transform their operations due to significant pressure to make changes to their business and operating models. As well as working with a wide range of clients, you will also work with leading practitioners across the Deals, Strategy & Consulting practice within the Firm.

What does your work look like?

As a Manager in the team, you will be working with clients on a breadth of operational restructuring assignments, including cost reduction, cash management, and working capital management, focused on identifying and implementing sustainable performance improvements.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Bringing sector expertise and a demonstrable understanding of the challenges facing our clients to offer insights and value to transformation programmes.
  • Assimilating complex information to formulate structured, pragmatic and meaningful client recommendations such as optimisation of procurement, back office, rapid cost reduction, operating model redesign, etc.
  • Undertaking market and client analysis to understand the clients’ commercial challenge and translating this into operational implications such as cost reduction and working capital improvements.
  • Performing cashflow sensitivity analysis, financial baselining, and forecast reviews.
  • Preparing presentations and/or reports to key stakeholders (e.g. Board, senior management).
  • Managing key stakeholders and inspiring change.
  • Developing, managing, and sustaining strong client relationships with clients and within the Firm.
  • Actively managing project economics and overall programme governance.

You will also be expected to actively contribute to the development of our team by:

  • Supporting marketing and business development initiatives (both internally and externally) to continuously develop our position in the market.
  • Managing a diverse and inclusive team.
  • Coaching and acting as a role model for the junior members of the team.

Who are you?

We are looking for candidates with experience supporting clients throughout the operational transformation lifecycle from strategic opportunity assessment and planning through to supporting the delivery of specific initiatives.

Given the multi-disciplinary nature of the work, you will have experience either in industry or advisory or ideally both and have the following capabilities:

  • Both financial and operational quantitative analytics.
  • Experience in working capital, supply chain optimisation, procurement, and debt management.
  • Experience in working on complex operational change.
  • Experience in managing stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage ambiguity or conflicting priorities.
  • High impact communication in written and verbal form with extensive experience in developing PowerPoint presentations to synthesise analysis and communicate key conclusions.
  • Experience in leading and developing the team around you.
  • Ability to leverage technology-enabled and digital tools to achieve efficient delivery for our clients.
  • Excellent Dutch and English language skills.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for work (mainly Western Europe).
