The Job

We are looking for an experienced Head of E-Commerce to join our hybrid Amsterdam-based team. In this role, you will lead efforts to enhance our online presence, focusing on website optimization, feature discovery and delivery, to drive conversions and sales growth.

Key responsibilities include conversion rate optimisation (CRO), A/B testing, data analysis, user testing, and SEO. You will prioritise a seamless, personalised user experience through effective product merchandising, for which collaboration with design and development agencies will be essential. Finally, you’ll manage the Customer Support team to ensure top-tier service and customer satisfaction.

Collaboration is essential, as you will work closely with various teams and stakeholders to ensure alignment and seamless execution of strategies. This is a full-time role, based in Amsterdam preferably, reporting into our interim CTO.

What will you do?

  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Foster strong partnerships with key stakeholders (Founders, Director of Operations, Head of Growth, in-house and external engineers, design agency, etc.) to align objectives.
  • Market Strategy: Conduct competitor analysis and market segmentation to refine our value proposition and product positioning.
  • E-Commerce Roadmap: Develop and maintain a roadmap with clear goals, features, and success metrics.
  • Internal and External Development: Manage both external development agencies. Prioritize and manage the e-commerce backlog and roadmap to align with user needs and business goals
  • Product Launches: Work closely with the Brand and Growth teams to successfully launch new products and categories onsite.
  • Growth Through Data: Use sales data and customer insights to identify growth opportunities and track KPIs to measure effectiveness.
  • Customer relationship: in collaboration with our Head of Growth, develop strategies to enhance customer loyalty and retention, possibly through CRM tools.
  • Customer Support Management: Manage the Customer Support team to maintain high levels of satisfaction and service quality.
  • Product Merchandising: Ensure relevant products and content are presented effectively to users, using personalization strategies.
  • Agile Workflow Management: Implement agile methodologies that suit Ekster’s needs, including sprint planning and iterative development.
  • E-commerce Platform Management: Manage our Shopify Plus eco-system and configuration. Align with the Supply Chain team on catalog- and inventory management.

We love people who…

  • Have a min. of 5 years of experience with Shopify or comparable e-commerce platforms and a high-level understanding of full-stack engineering for website development projects, aligning with product lifecycle management and SCRUM.
  • Understand the role of operations and fulfillment within an e-commerce company, ensuring seamless integration and efficiency, and contributing to a robust business model.
  • Are data-driven, proactive in identifying opportunities for growth and improvement, and skilled in market research and competitor analysis.
  • Excel in building strong relationships with stakeholders, fostering collaboration, and driving strategic alignment across teams.

Profile must-haves

  • You are an EU resident or have a working and living permit valid for the Netherlands.
  • You are fluent in English, other languages are a plus.
  • You love to work as we’ll need you full time (40hrs per week).
